PRIYANKA SARKAR is an independent filmmaker and movement artist based in
Hamburg, Germany, originally from New Delhi, India. She excels in producing films and
videos across both commercial and indie landscapes, particularly within the
realms of fashion, lifestyle, and experimental cinema. Her expertise extends beyond
production and direction to include post-production and creative direction.
Priyanka holds an MFA in Film from the Hamburg University of Fine Arts and a BA in
Fashion Media Communication from Pearl Academy, New Delhi. In the spring of 2022,
she expanded her education with a semester abroad at the prestigious FAMU film
school in Prague, Czech Republic.
Early in her career, Priyanka gained significant experience as a director’s assistant and
production assistant on commercial projects in New Delhi. However, over time, she has
developed a unique style that reflects her personal interests and identity. With a
de-colonial perspective, Priyanka's art primarily centers on the femininity, challenging
traditional artistic expressions and promoting gender equality. Deeply inspired by
psychedelic aesthetics and movement, her art aims to create immersive, multi-sensorial
experiences that transcend individual boundaries, fostering a sense of shared meaning
and collective consciousness.
In 2017, Priyanka founded “Laidback Productions,” a company dedicated to producing
indie cinema in India and collaborating with artists worldwide. Since 2021, the company
has also been active in Europe, continuing its mission to bring innovative and meaningful
art to a global audience.
